TOFU's Fundraising Event
TOFU's Fundraising GoalsT.O.F.U. has embarked on a serious and continuing fundraising campaign which will serve three basic goals:
Beginning with the creation of a Lyme support group in Adams County, PA in December 1999, the group decided to draw attention to the disease by sponsoring a rally. Our First Event was the "Second Battle of Gettysburg" which was held in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania on April 8, 2000 and included a Rally and a Symposium. Several doctors and politicians spoke at the rally, including our United States Senator, Rick Santorum. Although unable to be present, Senator Arlen Specter sent along a very warm letter of support. Other activities included personal visits to Senators and Representatives in Washington, D.C., a rally in New York City to protest an OPMC investigation of Dr. Joseph Burrascano, a prominent Lyme physician from East Hampton, New York. These events were covered by NBC and parts of the story were aired on the Weekend Today Show, January 27, 2001. The piece was by Bob McKeown of DATELINE NBC. May 26, 2001, a small portion of this piece was aired on the Weekend Today Show also.
