Lyme Aid / Lyme JamOriginating in 2001, Lyme Aid was intended to raise funds to support our brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers, husbands, wives, and, most especially, the children who are hardest hit by this devastating disease. The (2001) concert was a Country Music festival, "Country Fire on the Mountain" featuring Nashville entertainers: Chris Cagle, Marshall Dyllon Band, Tammy Cochran, Mike Walker, Comedian and Guest MC T. Bubba, and Local Talent: Borderline and Amanda Perko. Performers started at noon and were supported by WGTY Country FM 107.7. Go to www.tickedoffandfedup.com/Lyme_Convention for the reports from this convention. In 2003, we had the first Lyme Jam to enlighten the public about Lyme disease and the other co-infections. In 2004, we had the Lyme Jam on June 5. In 2005, Lyme Jam was held on Saturday, June 11, dedicated to the Memory of Ted Kotula, James Sanders and Rick Fincham.
For the past few years, this event had been held at the Moose Park and the folks at the park were awesome! THANKS MUCH! In '05, however, we had moved into 'downtown Gettysburg'. Place - Gettysburg Recreation Park, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania (in downtown Gettysburg behind / across the street from the Gettysburg Hospital. Featured entertainment: Blue Tonic, The Jackalopes, Full Tilt, Amy Rose & Sean Mott..... and the first hour started at 11:00a.m. with local youth performing....including Ashlyn Stoner, Kate Moyer, Liz Schmitz and Alison Stoner. Blue Tonic was back by popular demand and has played for every Lyme Jam event! Always a HIT! The Jackalopes performed for the first time last year and had quite a following.... even in the rain! They are a group of very talented 9th and 10th graders, yep!! Full Tilt was with us for the first time this year. We're thrilled to have them on board. 8 guys with a lot of brass, horns and popular music. Formed in '85 and based out of York, they play cover tunes from Chicago, Blood Sweat & Tears, etc. check 'em out at: www.fulltiltonline.com. Ashlyn Stoner is the daughter of 'LLMD', Dr. Tom Stoner from Gettysburg. She just finished the Gettysburg High School's performance of "State Fair" where she played Jeanne. Ashlyn was just awarded the part of Belle in "Beauty & the Beast" to be performed at the New Oxford High School this summer as an Adams County Arts Council fund raiser. Her favorite roles were Urleen in "Footloose", Zaneeta in "The Music Man" & Nora in "A Doll's House". Ashlyn has also performed at Gettysburg College, Eichelberger Performing Arts Center, Apple Harvest, Adams County Arts Council and Mainstreet Gettysburg. Sean Mott was Curly in "Oklahoma" at Gettysburg HS in April, 2003; Prom King at the Senior Prom and became the Gettysburg High School Idol in June 2003. Sean has attended Gettysburg College and was Jesus in the musical, "Godspell" in his freshman year! He also previously performed in and lead the acapella group at Gettysburg College. A little Sinatra....a lot of talent! Sean is the son of Ken and Lovette Mott. Ken is President of T.O.F.U. Inc. and the whole family has dealt with Lyme disease and the coinfections. Amy Rose is the daughter of Mama Rose and James in Texas, both of whom are Lyme victims. Amy has performed every year. After returning to Texas, she decided to relocate, moved to Gettysburg and has been here ever since. After 2005's Lyme Jam, she headed to Florida for a HUGE competition Memorial Day weekend with Lou Pearlman (founder of the Backstreet Boys and others). Lyme Jam 2005 produced by TOFU, Inc. and Noteworthy Music. This event was made possible by the generous financial sponsorship from The Pub and Arendtsville Planing Mill and in kind sponsorship from the Gettysburg Times, Graphcom, Grannies Attic, Utz Quality Foods and McDonalds.
