TOFU History

We have had several conventions bringing together Lyme victims and LLMD physicians from all over the country. One such convention, more details of which can be found under the Lyme Convention link, divided us into committees in an attempt to focus our concerns. This is the product of that convention. Some of the committees followed through with a few of their plans, but many stopped after the convention. Further information on the dates of the following conventions can be found under the Lyme Convention link.

Committee for the Cure

It is suggested that a cure will not come about overnight, and that in order to increase the chances that funds will be available and the effort to find a cure will be expended, enough of the public must be concerned about Lyme disease and educated as to the seriousness of this epidemic that a cure will be massively called for nationwide.

Media Committee

At Gettysburg, we discussed 2 different media initiatives:

1. Reactive: Sending rebuttal to, or agreement for, an article, news show, etc.
2. Proactive: Sending out press releases, writing articles, etc.

Litigation Committee

Ira Cooke, Esq. - Mr. Cooke spent the entire session talking about the successful case he had where a young boy in Elkton, MD had been denied treatment and has developed neurological, heart & brain damage and was awarded $3.2M that was reduced by the court to $1.7M. There were many questions. Mr. Cooke stated that based on his research, this was the first successful case for a Lyme disease victim.
